Shelterbox

Starting as the brainchild of one Rotarian, with the support of his Rotary club in year 2000, ShelterBox has grown to become the largest Rotary Club project in the 100 year history of the organisation.

Rotarian support currently contributes an estimated 50% of ShelterBox donations. Around 5,000 rotary clubs worldwide have supported ShelterBox since it was launched.

Recognising this worldwide support from the Rotary community, ShelterBox was designated as a Global Rotary Club Project in 2009. Logos with this designation now appear on all ShelterBoxes, tents, blankets and ancillary materials. Without the support of Rotarians much of what ShelterBox does would not be possible.

This year the members of the Rotary Club of Paisley Callants are delighted to report the sponsorship of both a ShelterBox and an Aquabox.  Members are very aware of the significance of both of these products which are able to be distributed at very short notice wherever disaster strikes around the world.

During the month of April, Paisley Callants Past President, Helen McLauchlan, was invited along to local school, Gleniffer High, to receive a cheque for £980, which the pupils and staff had raised, for the purchase of two Shelterboxes.  Head Teacher, David Nicholls, always keen to support a 'good idea', jumped at the chance when one of his younger pupils, Lewis, suggested that the school raise money to support Shelterboxes as he was aware of the very valuable work which the charity Shelterbox does for disaster stricken areas across the world.  WELL DONE GLENIFFER HIGH SCHOOL
